Crabs!

While we were on vacation, we went on a crab safari.At night the beach was packed with crabs, you didn't have to look far to find one. Here's what I noticed about them:

Sandy colored
Their backs were pink when they were washed up by the ocean
One large claw, and one small one.
Run backwards

My family and I love crabs, they are so interesting!

And an animal subject for now is...

Box Turtles!

Box turtles are found almost every where. We found ours in the middle of a road. Box turtles are easily distinguished by the hinge on their bottom half of their shell, enabling them to fully enclose them selfs. Box turtles eat tender vegetation, berries and insects. When kept in captivity they will also eat ground meat.

Ancient Egypt was a civilization in northeastern Africa. It depended a lot on the Nile river where it was built. The Egyptians had a king called a pharaoh. The people thought this pharaoh was the son of the great god, Rah.They worshiped him. When the pharaohs died they were made into mummies. Then they were buried in giant triangle tombs called pyramids. The people thought they would go to a place called the land of the dead. They put the king food and games in the tomb, too. The people made myths up about their idols.

The Girl with the Pearl Earring!

The Girl with the Peal Earing is known as one of Vermeer's best works. this Dutch painter also did many other paintings. I wish I could write more on this great artist, but not much is known about him. :-( The identity of the girl is unsure, but by some people it is thought to be Vermeer's daughter Maria. This beautiful painting is oil on canvas.
